MS Dhoni's finest post-match interview: After returning as CSK captain with victory, Dhoni leaves supporters speechless.

There was plenty of hype and excitement surrounding MS Dhoni's return as Chennai Super Kings captain on Sunday, May 1. After a dramatic turn of events wherein Ravindra Jadeja handed over the captain's armband back to Dhoni, the World Cup-winning former captain walked out for the toss in Match 46 of IPL 2022 against SunRisers Hyderabad, much to the delight of CSK fans who had filled the MCA Stadium stands in Pune.

And much to the delight of their supporters, Chennai Super Kings returned to winning ways in MS Dhoni's first match as captain in IPL 2022. Questions were asked about the manner in which the captaincy saga played out, as Jadeja quit the role only after 8 matches into the tournament, but CSK looked like a well-oiled machine when Dhoni was marshalling the troops on Sunday.

It was paisa-vasool for CSK fans as MS Dhoni walked out for the toss, batted as high as No. 3, and, more importantly, led the team to a victory over SRH that kept them alive in the race for the play-offs. Riding on Ruturaj Gaikwad's stunning 99 in a record-breaking opening partnership with Devon Conway (85), CSK defended 202 despite being ordinary on the field as Mukesh Choudhary's 4-wicket haul helped them seal a 13-run victory.

Dhoni then had social media abuzz with his post-match interview with broadcaster Pommia Mbangwa. The former Zimbabwe cricketer asked the right questions to the CSK captain, who was seemingly in the mood to open up about everything that had happened so far in the season, including the change in leadership mid-way.

Dhoni was eloquent of the situation in the CSK dug-out and what had gone wrong with Ravindra Jadeja, who was named as the captain of the side at the start of the season. However, in an unforeseen manner, Jadeja quit the role on the eve of their game against SRH.

The clarity with which Dhoni responded to Mbangwa's questions left fans in awe. A section of the fans expressed delight at having Dhoni back at post-match interviews, which is the only platform when the legendary skipper gives sneak peeks of his much-appreciated thought process.

No one can do the way MS Dhoni speaks with full confidence in his post match presentation. What he mean to say is that they will show it by doing. I can't describe how happy we are today. There is power in each of his words, Thala we waited for this so long????

Dhoni addressed the much-talked-about situation, saying Jadeja was feeling the burden of captaincy and that's why he agreed to the all-rounder's request for taking over the leadership again.

"Once you become captain, it means a lot of demands come in and can affect the player's performance and occupy their mind which I think was the case with him. I think captaincy burdened his prep and performances, it meant he could not go with the bat and ball with the same intensity, we had a deep-midwicket fielder. We have had a lot of drops which we need to improve on."

The Dhoni stint in IPL 2022 has begun well but CSK need nothing less than a victory in all their remaining matches to stand a chance of making the play-offs. The defending champions next face Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MCA Stadium on Thursday.
