As the monsoon season approaches, Delhi is ramping up infrastructure efforts to mitigate challenges related to road conditions and waterlogging. Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma has announced a focused initiative to complete extensive road construction and recarpeting work across the city ahead of the rains.

“We are trying to build as many roads as we can before the arrival of the monsoon,” Verma said, stressing the urgency of the task. He explained that the recarpeting drive is not only aimed at improving road quality but also at reducing dust pollution, which remains a significant environmental issue in Delhi. “We will not leave any such roads with dust, as it also causes pollution,” he emphasized.

The initiative is part of a broader government plan to enhance urban infrastructure and ensure smoother transportation during the rainy season. One of the key goals is to prevent waterlogging, which disrupts daily life and transportation in various parts of the city each year.

Verma assured that all departments involved are working in coordination and “trying our best” to meet targets in time. The project aligns with Delhi’s broader environmental and civic goals to create a cleaner, more efficient urban environment.
