The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) marked its first Foundation Day with a high-profile event in Delhi, underscoring its commitment to combating digital crime across the nation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah led the celebrations, highlighting the Centre's achievements and its ongoing efforts to enhance cybersecurity.

In his address, Shah lauded I4C's impactful performance over the past year. "Since its inception, I4C has issued more than 600 advisories to tackle various cyber threats," he stated. "The Centre has been instrumental in blocking numerous websites, social media pages, mobile applications, and accounts that were used by cybercriminals to perpetrate their activities."

The I4C was established as part of India's broader strategy to bolster cyber defenses and ensure the safety of digital transactions and communication. Its mission involves not only the prevention and investigation of cyber crimes but also the coordination of responses across different agencies and jurisdictions.

During the event, Shah elaborated on the Centre's proactive approach to identifying and addressing emerging threats in the cyber landscape. The advisories issued by I4C provide crucial guidance to law enforcement agencies, businesses, and individuals on how to protect themselves from various forms of cyber-attacks.

In addition to blocking malicious online entities, the I4C has played a pivotal role in enhancing public awareness and promoting cybersecurity best practices. Shah emphasized that the Centre's efforts are vital in safeguarding India's digital infrastructure, which is increasingly becoming a target for sophisticated cyber attacks.

The celebration also featured a demonstration of the I4C's capabilities and its future plans to further strengthen the nation's cyber resilience. Officials from various sectors commended the Centre's achievements and expressed their support for its continued efforts.

As India continues to advance its digital economy and embrace new technologies, the role of institutions like I4C is expected to become even more critical. The Foundation Day event served as a reminder of the challenges posed by cybercrime and the ongoing commitment of Indian authorities to tackle these threats head-on.

With its first year behind it, the I4C looks forward to expanding its reach and effectiveness in the coming years, ensuring a safer and more secure digital environment for all.
