BJP MP Tejasvi Surya Criticizes Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Following Governor's Decision to Prosecute in MUDA Scam

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has sharply criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah following the Karnataka Governor’s recent decision to grant sanction for prosecuting Siddaramaiah in connection with the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.

In a statement released today, Surya underscored the gravity of the allegations against Siddaramaiah, emphasizing the long-standing calls from the BJP and various activists for transparency and accountability in public office. "The Governor of Karnataka has accorded sanction for prosecution against CM Siddaramaiah regarding the allegations in the MUDA scam," Surya said. He highlighted that the BJP and numerous activists have been consistently raising concerns about the irregularities and illegalities related to the allocation of compensatory sites to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvati.

Surya noted that the issue had gained significant traction in recent months, with RTI activists also seeking the Governor’s intervention to launch a prosecution against the Chief Minister. He pointed out that the Karnataka government, under Siddaramaiah’s leadership, had initially appointed a single-person enquiry commission to investigate the allegations. Following this, another commission was set up to delve deeper into the claims.

"The seriousness of these allegations prompted the Karnataka government to establish multiple inquiry commissions," Surya stated. "Despite these measures, the issues remain unresolved, underscoring the need for an independent and thorough investigation."

In response to the Governor's sanction, Surya took aim at the Congress party's defense of Siddaramaiah. The Congress has argued that the Governor’s decision is politically motivated. "The Congress is trying to portray this as a politically colored action by the Governor, which is not accurate," Surya contended. "The allegations are severe and warrant legal scrutiny. The move to prosecute is a necessary step to ensure accountability."

The decision to prosecute Siddaramaiah adds a new layer to the ongoing controversy, with the BJP seizing the opportunity to push for greater scrutiny and accountability. The Congress, meanwhile, continues to defend Siddaramaiah, framing the issue as a political vendetta rather than a matter of legal and ethical misconduct.

As the political battle intensifies, all eyes are on the developments surrounding the MUDA scam investigation and how the Karnataka government will respond to the latest judicial and political challenges.
