The controversy surrounding the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case has escalated further, with BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of threatening doctors involved in the case. The accusation comes amid ongoing protests over the alleged mishandling of the investigation.

Speaking on the issue, Trivedi alleged that the West Bengal government has been involved in efforts to derail the investigation and protect the accused. “After the attempt to mislead the probe, save accused and destroy evidence, now a new strategy to threaten Doctors can be seen,” Trivedi stated, expressing serious concerns over the integrity of the investigation.

The BJP leader pointed to a recent press conference held by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, where she reportedly made comments discouraging the filing of FIRs against doctors. “CM did a PC and said, ‘I don't want FIRs to be registered and their (Doctors) careers get destroyed and they face trouble in getting passports and visas,’” Trivedi quoted, interpreting these remarks as a direct threat to the medical professionals involved.

Trivedi went on to accuse the Chief Minister of undermining the rule of law by protecting those responsible for the crime. “BJP wants to say clearly that Mamata Banerjee has straight away threatened Doctors,” he asserted, calling for accountability and transparency in the handling of the case.

The RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has been at the center of intense public scrutiny following allegations of rape and murder. The protests, led by various groups and supported by the BJP, have highlighted concerns over the investigation, with demands for a fair and impartial inquiry growing louder.

The accusations against Mamata Banerjee are likely to deepen the political rift in West Bengal, where the BJP and the Trinamool Congress have been at loggerheads over several issues. Trivedi’s statement has further fueled the controversy, raising questions about the state government's approach to the case and its commitment to justice.

As the situation continues to unfold, the calls for a transparent investigation and protection of those involved in the case are expected to intensify. The political implications of the case are also likely to play a significant role in the ongoing power struggle between the BJP and the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
