Former Uttar Pradesh DGP and BJP MP Brij Lal has welcomed the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, a key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for ensuring justice in the long-pending case.

“I congratulate Narendra Modi Ji as now Tahawwur Rana will be extradited to India,” Brij Lal said. He emphasized that both Tahawwur Rana and David Coleman Headley were the masterminds behind the deadly 2008 attacks, which left over 170 people dead.

He also raised concerns about local complicity, stating, “Surely, there will be the involvement of the locals, as the business hub which Tahawwur Rana wanted to create cannot be done without the involvement of the locals.”

Recalling his own role in previous terror investigations, Brij Lal said, “When I arrested Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin in the Rampur attack case, Imran Shahzad and Mohammad Farooq were also arrested. But after the Samajwadi Party came to power, they withdrew 14 cases, including the Rampur attack case.”

He criticized the then Congress-led UPA government, saying their narrative was aimed at destabilizing Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

Brij Lal also called for heightened security measures once Rana is brought to India, warning, “Tahawwur Rana will have to be kept under high security as ISIS will try to eliminate him.”
