BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Criticizes Kejriwal’s Resignation Announcement as a “Moral Cover”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's recent declaration that he plans to resign from his position in two days has been met with sharp criticism from BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj. In her response, Swaraj accused Kejriwal of using his resignation announcement as a facade to mask the realities of his legal and political challenges.

Swaraj suggested that Kejriwal's statement is a calculated move to create a veneer of moral high ground amidst the backdrop of his bail conditions. "Today Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has tried to put a moral cover on the compulsions of his bail condition," Swaraj remarked. She implied that Kejriwal's resignation plan is not driven by genuine ethical concerns but by legal constraints that require him to navigate carefully.

Criticizing the timing and necessity of the announcement, Swaraj questioned the rationale behind Kejriwal's request for 48 hours to resign. "The people of Delhi are very intelligent. The people know that if Arvind Kejriwal had to resign then why does he need 48 hours?" she asked. This critique reflects a broader sentiment that Kejriwal's resignation might be more about political maneuvering than actual commitment to stepping down.

Swaraj also took the opportunity to address broader concerns about the Kejriwal administration. She accused the Delhi government of failing to address pressing issues in the city, stating, "The condition of Delhi is deteriorating because the Kejriwal government has not done any work, it has only done publicity and corruption." This comment underscores the BJP's narrative that Kejriwal's tenure has been marked by inefficiency and corruption rather than effective governance.

As Delhi grapples with the implications of Kejriwal's resignation announcement, the BJP's criticisms highlight the contentious nature of the current political climate and the ongoing scrutiny of Kejriwal's leadership. The public and political analysts are left to assess the true motivations behind Kejriwal's move and its potential impact on the future of Delhi's governance.
