New Delhi, April 11, 2026: In a major push toward clean mobility, the Delhi government’s draft Electric Vehicle (EV) policy proposes a 100% waiver on road tax for electric cars priced up to ₹30 lakh, valid until March 2030. The policy aims to accelerate EV adoption by making electric cars more affordable for middle-class buyers and reducing the overall cost of ownership.

The draft policy focuses on strengthening the EV ecosystem in Delhi through incentives, improved charging infrastructure, and support for sustainable transportation. Officials believe this move will significantly cut vehicular emissions and help tackle rising air pollution levels in the national capital.

If implemented, the policy is expected to boost demand for electric vehicles, attract investments in EV manufacturing and charging networks, and position Delhi as a leading hub for electric mobility in India.
