Upgraded Agri Welfare Portal to Provide Farmers Mobile Access to Government Schemes and Services

Date:

New Delhi: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, launched the upgraded ‘Agri Welfare Portal’ on October 19. The portal aims to provide farmers across India with easy access to government schemes, financial assistance, and reliable agriculture-related information through a single digital platform.

This initiative supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision. Its objective is to reduce procedural hurdles, facilitate easier access to government services, and minimize the role of intermediaries.

The portal will serve as a single-window platform for key government initiatives, including PM-KISAN, AgriStack and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. It will also provide information on government schemes, subsidies, eligibility criteria, weather conditions, scientific farming practices, seed and fertiliser availability, and prevailing market prices.

Addressing the launch event, Chauhan emphasized the importance of keeping the information accurate and regularly updated. He also instructed officials to ensure that the portal uses simple language and straightforward processes, so that small and marginal farmers—including those with limited formal education—can easily access its services.

To improve digital awareness among farmers, a special training campaign will be conducted through Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the country. Designed for rural users, the portal is intended to function on basic smartphones and in areas with limited internet connectivity. It also incorporates accessibility features to help persons with disabilities use its services.

This platform will bring together Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), agricultural scientists, researchers and startups, creating a shared digital space for the broader agricultural sector.

Developed in alignment with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Digital Brand Identity Manual 3.0 and Guidelines for Indian Government Websites 3.0, this upgraded portal aims to provide a secure, mobile-friendly, and accessible digital experience.

Agriculture Secretary Atish Chandra, Additional Secretary Pramod Meherda, and senior officials from the Ministry’s Digital Agriculture Division and the National Informatics Centre participated in this launch event.
